Sandra Stroot

Sandra Stroot
Associate Dean for Research

Dr. Sandra Stroot came to The Ohio State University as an assistant professor in physical education – teacher education in 1987. She is a full professor, and has served in various administrative roles across the University. Over the last decade, Dr. Stroot’s research has targeted education reform initiatives that impact both school and university settings. In 2009, she was awarded a $12.9 million-dollar Teacher Quality Partnership grant from the U.S. Department of Education called Project ASPIRE. The primary focus of Project ASPIRE was to recruit prospective teachers with deep content knowledge and provide skills and experiences to prepare them to be successful and stay in our high-need schools. Dr. Stroot is now the Interim Associate Dean for Research in the College of Education and Human Ecology and oversees the EHE Office of Research, the Research Methodology Center, and CETE Email; 614.247.4659
 
Kimberly Lightle

Kimberly Lightle
Director

Dr. Kimberly Lightle received her PhD in Educational Studies in 1995 from The Ohio State University, College of Education with a focus on science teacher education. She has been funded through five National Science Foundation programs (National STEM Digital Library, Discovery Research K-12, International Polar Year, Climate Change Education, and Geoscience Education) as well as the Ohio Board of Regents and NASA with budgets totaling more than $7 million. In her duties as director, she supports faculty in identification of funding opportunities and the development and submission of proposals as well as compliance-related issues on sponsored projects. Neal Kelley

Neal Kelley
Senior Grants Manager

Neal Kelley is a senior grants manager for the Office of Research. He joined the college in January 1998, supporting faculty efforts in securing research funding by providing overall management of the pre-award processes for research proposals. After receiving his MS in rural sociology from Ohio State in 1993, he returned to Southeast Asia where he became involved with rural development and poverty alleviation programs. He led business development teams in Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines and managed post-award activities. Neal also conducted short-term assignments in Laos and Indonesia. His duties are primarily focused on assisting faculty and research staff in the identification of funding opportunities, interpretation of RFA guidelines, budget development and overall proposal submission. Bing Tian

Bing Tian
Senior Grants Manager

Bing Tian is a senior grants manager for the Office of Research. He joined the college in 2001 as a Research Coordinator for the College of Human Ecology. Bing worked in the banking industry in China for six years before he came to the United States in 1999 to pursue an MBA at the University of Akron with a full scholarship. He also earned his Master of Accounting degree from Ohio State and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His duties include developing budgets, packaging proposals for electronic submission, managing compliance-related issues on sponsored projects and Office of Research fiscal duties. Email; 614.292.2892
 
Michael Moses

Michael Moses
Grants & Contracts Specialist

Michael Moses is a post-award grants manager for the Office of Research. He joined the college in April, 2015, supporting faculty in managing funded research projects and interfacing with college and OSP staff, sponsors, and collaborators. After receiving his BA from Kenyon College in 2000, Michael lived in Cambridge, MA for several years and gained his first experience in grants & contracts working for the Dept. of Public Health. Upon returning to Central Ohio, Michael worked as a Sponsored Program Officer at OSP for 8 years, providing pre- and post-award support to various colleges and departments. During this time, he became a Certified Research Administrator. In 2012, he joined the Wexner Medical Center working as a Grants Manager providing pre- and post-award support to the Depts. of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuroscience, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry. His current duties include monitoring project financials and personnel appointments, facilitating sponsor prior approval requests, interpreting award terms and conditions, interfacing with collaborating institutions, and assisting with progress and financial reports. Rebecca Chacko

Rebecca Chacko
Administrative Coordinator

Rebecca Chacko is the administrative coordinator for the Office of Research. She joined the college in 2011 as a fiscal associate for the College of Education and Human Ecology. She has worked in a variety of office settings, most recently coming from a non-profit organization that trains advocates for abused and neglected children. Rebecca earned her bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Franklin University in 2001. She serves as the primary contact for the Office of Research, coordinates and facilitates contract submissions to the Office of Legal Affairs, assists with planning workshops and events including the yearly EHE Students Research Forum and is in charge of the Office of Research newsletter. Heather Lansky

Heather Lansky
Manager-Quality Data Reporting

Heather Lansky is the manager of data quality reporting for the Office of Research. She joined the college in 2014 as data and evaluation manager for the P12 Initiative. She started work at the university in 1998 at the Wexner Medical Center. Heather graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Technology from Ohio State in 2012. In her current role she designs and implements an integrated approach for collection, analysis, and use of data (including web metrics) as it relates to Office of Research projects and initiatives.
