Weather-Related Resources and Closing Reminders

It is important to be aware of the university’s weather-related resources and policy, know your disaster designation and learn how to check the university’s status. Although Ohio State strives to remain open, extreme conditions during the winter can warrant the usage of the university’s Weather or Other Short-Term Closing Policy. Faculty and staff can be prepared by reviewing this policy and taking note of the resources to check the university’s status. You can also view your disaster designation in your Workday profile. The Weather or Short-Term Closing Policy does not apply to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center employees.

Improved Process for Staff and Manager Career Development Grants

In partnership with the Office of Human Resources, we recently reviewed the process for awarding staff and manager career development grants. As a result, several updates have been made to the process for the 2024 fiscal year. The grant application, award requirements, and steps to access funds have now been simplified and have a more clearly defined award period.

Grant funding up to $1,500 for individuals and up to $2,250 for groups of two or more is available for staff with at least a 0.75 FTE status who have been employed for at least one year. Only an interest in professional development is needed to apply; a specific course, program, or use for the funds is not required prior to applying or receiving a grant. Grant recipients can cover activities occurring between October 2023 - June 2024.
