Five take new EHE leadership roles

Four of our faculty and staff and one new recruit have assumed, or soon will, new leadership roles within the college. Read what these folks will be doing for the college: Tami Augustine, Jacqulyn Chambers, Kerry Dixon, Stacey Dorr and Laura Justice.   

Tami Augustine

Tami Augustine, ‘10 MA, ‘14 PhD, Social Studies and Global Education, is the director of the college’s Office of Accreditation, Placement and Licensure as well as a clinical associate professor of social studies and middle childhood education, Department of Teaching and Learning. She had served as interim director since December 2018. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Augustine worked in both independent and public schools as a teacher and administrator. Her research focuses on social studies teacher education, uses of technology in education and contemplative practices in teaching and learning. In 2019, Augustine was the recipient of the university’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.

 

Jackie Chambers

Jacqulyn ‘Jackie’ Chambers is the human resources business partner/director for the college’s Office of Human Resources as of March 1. She joined the university in 2002 after graduating from Franklin University in 2001 with a BS in Human Resources Management and Business Administration. She moved to the college in 2006, serving as human resources manager for the Department of Teaching and Learning, and later was promoted to human resources generalist for the college’s central Office of Human Resources. While serving in this role, she earned the Society for Human Resources Management – Professional Certification, which signifies knowledge and experience in the field. She served as interim director of the office from October 2018 until recently.

 

Kerry Dixon

Kerry Dixon, ‘16 PhD, Interdisciplinary STEAM and Urban Education, recently joined the college’s Office of Advancement as senior director of engagement and stewardship. In this role, she will direct and coordinate strategies to elevate interactions with the college’s donors and alumni. She brings her knowledge of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, infrastructure development and operations to further our goals. Prior to this, Dixon was executive director of civic and global engagement for the college’s Office of Equity, Diversity and Global Engagement. She oversaw our international partnerships and initiatives. Before that, Dixon was director of strategic initiatives for the college. Her background is as an executive and consultant in nonprofit organizations.

 

Stacey Dorr

Stacey Dorr joins the college May 1 as director of the college’s Office of Marketing and Communications. She spent 13 years with the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio. Most recently as vice president of operations and communications, she led initiatives to benefit association members, including the largest grassroots campaign in the association’s history around student aid. The campaign brought positive legislative action. Her leadership of their website refresh increased traffic 45%. She advised presidents, provosts, faculty and other key leaders in marketing, communications and public relations collaborations to position the private university sector as an economic driver in Ohio. She has deep leadership experience in all aspects of personnel and organizational management.

 

Laura Justice

Laura Justice, EHE Distinguished Professor and executive director of the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy and the Schoenbaum Family Center, has been appointed to a leadership role to support the alignment of all college centers in activities and organizational practices. The centers include the Dennis Learning Center and the Center for Education and Training for Employment. Working closely with the centers’ leadership, Justice will lead the creation of the EHE Centers for Practice, Research and Policy. Since joining the college in 2007, Justice has served as principal investigator or co-investigator for more than $55 million in federally funded research and published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles. She was the first-ever education researcher to receive the Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering.
