Changes coming soon to software packages

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Several changes are in the works for software used regularly by faculty and staff.

Adobe Creative Cloud Service

As of October 5, faculty and staff can access this new licensed service. Read more about this update.

On or about November 30, licensing will change for the Creative Cloud titles from a device based license to individual licensing. You will use your Ohio State name.# and password to activate the license. Don’t worry if you get a message that the license has or is about to expire, you just need to reactivate it with your Ohio State credentials. Click Help/Sign-In and follow the prompts. Contact the EHE help desk for more information or assistance.

The newest Mac OS – Mojave

EHE OIT is currently testing the new Mac OS for use in our environment to ensure it works as expected with the hardware and all of the current software titles and services we provide. As soon as we are confident that Mojave won’t cause you loss of productivity we will provide the update to your Apple desktop or laptop computer.

MS Office and Office 365

Many of you have noticed features found in Office 365 that are not always found in the version installed on your computer. Microsoft is concentrating on enriching Office 365 with features before they find their way to the MS Office version most of us know. This is because Microsoft’s model for Office is shifting from an installed software to the online service found in Office 365. We continue to work with the OCIO on how we can offer the best options to you during this paradigm shift. We will continue to provide updates as we develop, test and implement new solutions.
