EHE Task Force to Enhance the Student Experience and Enrollment
Our college has recently formed the EHE Task Force to Enhance the Student Experience and Enrollment. The mission of this task force is to concurrently enhance the student experience, enrollment and student outcomes in a manner aligned with the mission, values, pillars and resources of the college and its units. This mission is borne from our absolute commitment to placing our students at the center of everything we do as a college. This task force is also affirmed by the very heavy influence of our students and educational programs in ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of our college. This aspect of the task force will be especially important as our university and nation cope with the impact of coronavirus on our economy.
The first goal of the task force is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the student experience, our enrollments, and the financial impact of our teaching mission on the college, departments and degree programs.
The second goal of the task force is to partner with the college community to solicit and develop data-driven recommendations to concurrently enhance the student experience, enrollment and student outcomes while also enhancing our financial security during these uncertain times in our nation’s history.
I expect that a significant underpinning will be transformative change toward enhancing our collective capacity to rapidly adapt our educational enterprise to changing circumstances to continuously meet the changing needs and interests of our students and the communities they do and will serve. As we enter a new era in higher education, I believe this taskforce will play a major role in the future of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University.
Given the scope and importance of this task force, we recruited 20 members. They come from each of our departments and many of our offices. They include both faculty and staff. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences will be an asset to supporting the mission of this task force. We also selected members recognizing that the work and success of the task force will hinge on our whole EHE community becoming engaged as the task force delivers
The task force has laid out a process for continuous quality improvement with several goals and milestones to achieve by the end of 2021. I am calling on our community to support their effort to enhance our college for our most important stakeholders and the reason we are all here: our students.
Sincerely,
Don Pope-Davis, PhD
Dean
