EHE wireless network getting upgrade

Monday, December 18, 2017

EHE colleagues,

I want to provide an update about ongoing improvements to the technology experience in the college. In partnership with the Office of the Chief Information Officer, we are updating our wired network and upgrading our entire wireless network to achieve full wireless coverage for all EHE faculty and staff areas. This enhancement is important to the increasingly mobile requirements necessary for our workforce.

Work is already underway in a number of buildings with a target completion for the entire college by the end of March. The current status of the upgrade is as follows:

  • Arps Hall – Complete
  • Campbell Hall – Anticipated start this winter
  • CETE – Complete
  • IDEC – Anticipated start this winter
  • PAES – Anticipated start this winter
  • Ramseyer Hall – 90 percent complete
  • Schoenbaum Family Center – Anticipated start Dec. 28
  • Virtual Lab School – Anticipated start this winter
  • Younkin Success Center – Anticipated start this winter

In order to complete the refresh, technicians are going building-by-building installing new cables and hardware. We will be communicating with each building as to the dates that technicians will be on site and we are committed to ensuring that the work is completed quickly and with as little disruption as possible.

This is a separate project from the Skype for Business upgrade, but the two are happening concurrently.

If you have specific questions or concerns about this project, please reach out to me. I look forward to these technology changes that will help streamline and simplify how we work.

Thanks,

Joe Roush
Chief Information Officer
