New communications system coming for EHE, Ohio State
In the coming months, the College of Education and Human Ecology will transition to Skype for Business as its primary communications resource. By now, you have probably already received information from EHE OIT and your department/office about selecting a new hand- or head-set device to replace your current telephone.
This unified communications service has many features to enrich communication and collaboration:
- voice/telephone
- voice messages in email
- instant messaging and presence
- desktop sharing
- multi-person conferencing
- optional mobile client
- Outlook integration
Skype for Business will help us perform our jobs in a new collaborative and more efficient way. The service can be used even if you are working outside of your office location, meaning greater convenience for you.
As we prepare for our migration to the service, you will receive additional communications about Skype for Business, upgrade process, service demonstrations and schedule during the next several months. Please read these important messages and follow any instructions to help smooth the transition.
More information is available on the Skype for Business project website. A quick video overview of Skype for Business also is available. Questions may be directed to EHE’s CIO Joe Roush or to the EHE OIT Service Desk. Alternatively, the Skype Project Team can also answer your questions.
