Upgrade your EHE computer login

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Beginning now through March 12, you can reconfigure your EHE computer to access it using your name.# login. To find out how, first make sure you are on a wired network connection. Step-by-step instructions are available to guide you through the process.

If you run into any problems along the way, please call the EHE Service Desk at 614.247.8324 for help.

If you have a Mac, this change has to be completed manually. Give us a call anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or email us at servicedesk@ehe.osu.edu to schedule an appointment.

Great! But how long does this take?

This update should take about half an hour. Oftentimes it will complete in 10-15 minutes.

What happens if I don't update my login?

After spring break (beginning March 12), the old login will no longer be supported. This means you will lose access to log into your computer using the old method. Please make sure you go through the update process before March 12 to avoid unplanned interruptions to your work day.

After you update

With your new username and password, you should next install CrashPlan, our desktop and laptop backup solution for the college. No more fooling with external hard disk drives or apple time machine backups. Once CrashPlan is installed, all of your backups will happen automatically. Ditching the cumbersome process of keeping track of external backup disks also significantly improves our risk management score.

Install Crashplan by clicking the EHE Apps icon on your desktop (Windows) or from the Managed Software Center app (Mac OSX). The Service Desk can assist with installation and configuration of CrashPlan, if needed.
